There's a million and one physical and mental health reasons why people should exercise, and the benefits cardio provides to skin are often overlooked - but if you're reading this blog, you probably care about your skin.


As the founder of Leahlani Skincare, I've seen firsthand how a regular cardio routine can be transformative for both health and skin. Here are three key ways cardio can enhance your skin's health, making it look more vibrant and alive:

1. Boosted Blood Circulation for Radiant Skin

Enhanced circulation from cardio delivers oxygen and nutrients to your skin, promoting cell repair and rejuvenation. This leads to a healthy, and lively complexion that truly radiates.

2. Detoxification Through Sweat with a Caveat

Initially, your skin might detox, showing more breakouts. This phase is usually short-lived, and maintaining a clean face during and after workouts helps your skin adjust and flourish.

3. Stress Reduction for a Balanced Complexion

The mental benefits of aerobic exercise have a neurochemical basis. Exercise reduces levels of the body's stress hormones, like adrenaline and cortisol, and stimulates the production of endorphins, the brain's natural painkillers and mood elevators. These biochemical changes contribute to a decrease in stress-related skin issues and promote a calmer, more balanced complexion.


As the new year unfolds, I invite you to join me in a cardio challenge. Commit to 30 days of cardio 3-5 times a week, and witness the transformation. Exercise became a joyful privilege for me, especially after completing my first half marathon in October 2023. I'm excited to continue this journey of health and vitality.
