The Art of the Ritual: An Interactive Experience with Leahlani Skincare

Last week, guests joined us at the Grand Hyatt Hotel on Kaua‘i’s south shore for The Art of the Ritual — an interactive skincare program led by Leahlani Skincare founder, Leah Klasovsky, and hosted in collaboration with the hotel’s Anara Spa. The lush tropical setting and ocean breeze made for the perfect backdrop to slow down, connect, and indulge in a sensorial skincare journey.

We were honored to work alongside the Anara Spa team — and to enjoy a little staycation on the south side. For the three sisters of Leahlani — Leah (founder and formulator), Hali (brand director), and Tessa (marketing director) — preparing and presenting this program was a moment to reconnect with what sets Leahlani apart: a sensory skincare philosophy built on creating moments of self-care that nourish both the skin and the spirit.

A holistic approach is where we began, and it’s still at the heart of everything we do. Leah has always been driven to create products that inspire people to transform the daily routines we all do — like washing our face — into moments of grounding ritual. As Leah shared, when you show up to cleanse your skin, that’s already one or two minutes you’ve committed to being there. Why not use that time to slow down, breathe, and connect? You’re doing it anyway, so show up fully. It’s not just for enjoyment; there are proven health benefits to caring for your nervous system.

Program Highlights: Key Lessons from Leah

Throughout the experience, Leah shared her journey as a holistic esthetician, insights into the skin’s unique language, and ways to bring more intention to your skincare. Here are some of the most memorable moments:

1. Your Skin Is a Communicator

Skin health is about far more than surface appearance — it reflects what’s happening within. Stress, digestion, hormones, and lifestyle choices all show up on the skin, making it a powerful tool for self-awareness and balance.

2. The Real Power of Ritual

Small, consistent moments of care can become grounding anchors in your day. Cleansing is just one example — in the morning, it can be a gentle awakening; in the evening, it can symbolically wash away the day. Whatever the step, the intention you bring to it is what transforms it from routine to ritual.

3. Care for Your Skin the Way You’d Care for Someone You Love

Instead of picking apart what you see in the mirror, shift the focus to gratitude for everything your skin does — protecting you, sensing the world around you, and supporting your health. When applying moisturizer, take the time for gentle facial massage.

4. Time Is Not Found — It’s Allocated

This was one of Leah’s most resonant reminders:

“Time is not found — it’s allocated. Let your care for yourself take up space.”

If you want to mask, journal, or meditate, it’s not about “finding” time — it’s about choosing to make it a priority. If this sentiment doesn't resonate with you, we get it! But sometimes we lose track of the things we're giving our precious time to that may not be serving us (we're looking at our own screen time here!). Even a minute or two can be enough to turn an everyday step into an act of care.

In Hawaii, we call the time spent causally chatting with dear friends Talk Story. Sharing what’s new and being there for the things that matter most. We invite you to join the Leahlani community as we explore skincare and much more.
