Why We Love Honey Love

Why We Love Honey Love

Exfoliation removes buildup, increases cellular turnover, smooths the skin and stimulates blood flow. Every type of skin needs exfoliation, but it’s a total game-changer for preventing breakouts! Our Honey Love Exfoliator was the very first product in the Leahlani collection – many years and thousands of 5-star reviews later, it remains our holy grail for keeping oily & acne-prone skin clear, healthy & vibrant. So what makes people fall in love with Honey Love? Let us count the ways…

1. Honey-powered healing

As its name suggests, the magic ingredient in Honey Love’s potent clarifying formula is our custom blend of raw Hawaiian honeys. Raw honey is our all-time favorite skincare ingredient, because its benefits are practically endless.

Naturally antiseptic and anti-microbial, honey cleanses the skin, fights acne and dissolves bacteria in the pores. It also contains a mild AHA called gluconic acid that helps even skin tone, diminish scarring and brighten the complexion. When mixed with water, honey releases a peroxide property which further helps heal acne and impede bacterial growth.

But that’s not all – honey is also a humectant, drawing moisture to the skin and nourishing the complexion with its abundance of vitamins and beneficial enzymes. By now, you’re probably beginning to see what the buzz is about!

 2. Ingredients that transform tone + texture

Honey isn’t the only all-star on Honey Love’s ingredient list – its formula is positively brimming with skin-loving natural ingredients that combat inflammation, tone and illuminate the skin.

Corundum Crystals: Made from the second hardest mineral known to science, these powdered, antibacterial microdermabrasion crystals gently exfoliate without irritating or tearing the skin.

Wildcrafted Maqui Berry: Containing the highest levels of antioxidants of all fruits, this superfood berry effectively combats the effects of free radical damage while reducing inflammation and protecting cell membranes.

Organic Noni Fruit: A natural emollient with anti-inflammatory properties and high concentrations of crucial vitamins and minerals that smooth and rejuvenate the skin.

Organic Roselle Hibiscus Flower: Dubbed the “botox plant” for its firming and lifting properties, this AHA-rich astringent flower speeds cellular renewal, strengthens elasticity and moisturizes while gently exfoliating the skin and making pores appear smaller.

Organic Lavender Flower: Both anti-bacterial and anti-fungal, balancing lavender soothes the skin and spirit by calming inflammation and regulating oil production.

Rose Clay: With a lovely pink color, this iron oxide-filled clay mildly exfoliates, tightens pores, increases circulation, fades hyper-pigmentation and stimulates collagen production.

3. Controllable exfoliation + built-in hydration

Unlike strong acid or chemical exfoliants that can over-strip the skin, Honey Love is a manual exfoliator, which means you can control the pressure and intensity of your exfoliation treatment. We recommend using very gentle pressure when you massage Honey Love onto your skin, saving the more vigorous pressure for areas of the highest congestion like the sides of the nose and upper forehead.

After you’re done exfoliating, we recommend leaving Honey Love on your face for a few minutes to let all those hydrating and anti-inflammatory ingredients go to work, soothing redness and drawing moisture to the surface of the skin.

Honey Love FAQs

How often should I exfoliate my skin?

You may have heard that you shouldn’t exfoliate more than twice a week – it’s certainly what they taught us at esthetician school. However, in practice it’s a bit more complicated than that. Everybody’s skin has different needs and sensitivities and some acne-prone skin types need gentle exfoliation 3-4 times a week to stay clear and happy.

Let your skin tell you how often it needs exfoliation. Here’s a tip: With a clean and dry face, and clean hands, gently place your fingertips on your face. Glide them around your skin, and pay attention to any areas that feel congested, bumpy or flakey. If you can feel congestion, that’s a good indicator that your skin could use some exfoliation. If your skin is on the more sensitive side, “spot exfoliating” these areas is a great option!
