Youth Enhancing Prickly Pear & Vanilla Bean Chia Seed Pudding

We have combined the youth-enhancing superfood ingredients of our Mahina Evening Replenishing Elixir to give you a recipe that will promote the most supple and velvet-soft skin, at any age!


Our Mahina Elixir combines the powerful duo of organic moringa and marula oils with youth-enhancing organic prickly pear seed oil, repairing chia oil and vitamin A rich carrot seed oil. These oils work together to soften, tone, and replenish the skin while you sleep. Each ingredient is full to the brim with youth enhancing vitamins, proteins and amino acids that will work hard to rejuvenate each cell on your precious face while you get your beauty sleep. The Mahina Elixir is my holy grail, and quite possibly my favorite product in my entire line! It plumps the skin cells beautifully and you can literally feel it 'feed' each cell an abundance of nourishment. Layered with a tiny amount of Bless Balm... heaven.

 

Implementing a thorough evening skincare ritual is a vital step to unveiling a vibrant and healthy complexion. Our skin cells are working hard as we sleep to repair the damage from the days pollutants and to balance moisture that we naturally loose while we sleep. We’ve had some wonderful results from the ingredients in our Mahina Evening Replenishing Elixir and putting them together into an equally beneficial and delicious snack was the best decision we made all week! We used organic chia seeds, prickly pear juice, and delicate vanilla beans for a long lasting, power-packed pudding recipe. This can be enjoyed for breakfast, for a snack, and even as dessert! 

 

Organic chia seed oil is a true superfood. Rich in omega oils, antioxidants and phyto-nutrients that hydrate, balance and moisturize the skin. Chia is also a powerful source of alpha lipoic acid, which helps to reduce fine lines and encourage new cell growth. Chia seeds can easily be added to recipes for extra fibre, protein, and nutritious omega-fatty acids. Toss them in your salad, blend them into smoothies, or add them to any of your baking recipes. They deliver a high quality protein and nearly all the carbohydrates found in chia seeds are pure fibre. The omega-3 and vitamin E content will promote soft shiny hair/nails and an even skin tone. The natural zinc content, also known as ‘the anti-aging mineral’, will combat inflammation.

 

Organic prickly pear oil is rich in amino acids, vitamin E, antioxidants and omega oils which help to stimulate collagen and elastin and boost cellular regeneration. Prickly Pear oil absorbs quickly, leaving your skin velvet-soft and supple. The juice from this plant can be consumed and actually fights against premature aging. It’s high in vitamin C, fibre, calcium, magnesium, and powerful antioxidants. Even a small amount of this juice will help to regulate blood sugar levels and promote healthy skin and teeth. It’s also known for it’s ability to balance digestion which is why it’s a great addition to our pudding recipe.



When it comes to the vanilla bean, we create our own in-house exotic vanilla infusion. We carefully scrape the beans of Tahitian, Mexican and Ugandan vanilla pods and allow them to infuse into cold pressed and organic oils that are used specifically for our Mahina Evening Elixir. Vanilla is rich in antioxidants and vitamins and is anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial and has a balancing and soothing effect on the skin. Not to mention, it smells divine. The smooth flavour of vanilla can be used to enrich any recipe. It’s especially powerful at enhancing brain and mood health and many have found it relieves mild anxiety. 

 


Youth Enhancing Prickly Pear & Vanilla Bean Chia Seed Pudding

 

2.5 Tbs chia seeds (+ 1 tsp)

1 can of organic coconut milk

1 oz prickly pear juice

1 vanilla pod

1 tbsp raw honey

1 slice of fresh orange

 

 

  • Empty the coconut milk into a shallow container and add the 2.5 tbs. chia seeds. 
  • Scrape the vanilla pod and infuse it into the chia and coconut milk along with 1 tbs of organic, raw honey, mix well for 1-2 minutes. Cover and put in the refrigerator for 1-2 hours. 
  • Combine 1 oz of prickly pear juice and 1 tsp chia seeds and mix well and cover. Place in the refrigerator to thicken.
  • After both mixtures have set for an hour, removed them from the refrigerator and combine the prickly pear infusion into the chia pudding and mix well.  You can also layer both mixtures instead of infusing them together.
  • Squeeze some fresh orange on top and dig in! You can also top your pudding with some superfood ingredients such as coconut flakes, cacao nibs, almonds or bee pollen. 

 

This recipe is great as a snack on-the-go, topped with fresh fruit for breakfast, or sweetened and served as dessert.
