Your Monthly Skin Ritual

Your Monthly Skin Ritual

I’m a big believer in rituals that bring us back to ourselves. The kind that feel grounding, nourishing, and a little indulgent—in the best way. So in honor of Skin Cancer Awareness Month, I wanted to share a simple ritual I’ve started doing once a month: a full-body skin check. It’s not about fear or being clinical—it’s about showing up for yourself in a way that feels loving and intentional. And honestly? It’s become something I look forward to. A chance to check in, reconnect with my body, and give my skin the attention it deserves.

Set the tone

Before I even hop in the shower, I take a moment to create a little vibe. I light a candle, put on a playlist I love, and give myself permission to slow down. Even just that little shift changes everything.

What always ups the vibe for me? Rolling Bless Essence onto my pulse points—behind my ears, on my wrists—right before I step into the shower. The scent is soft and grounding, and it’s like a little switch flips in my brain. It tells me: you can check out now… and really check in.

Dry brush, always

If you haven’t tried dry brushing—start now. It’s such a beautiful way to wake up your skin, stimulate circulation, and get grounded in your body. I always start at my feet and brush upward toward my heart. It takes two minutes, but I swear it shifts my whole energy. Plus, it brings you right into the present moment with your body—such an easy ritual to build in.

Take the everything shower

You know the one. The scrub, the shave, the hair mask, the whole shebang.

Our Coco Infusions were made for this moment. Here’s how I use them:

  • As a luxe shave oil—so silky, and your skin will thank you
  • As a deep conditioner for my hair (I warm a little between my hands and work it into the ends while I do the rest of my shower)
  • Mixed 50/50 with coarse sea salt for the dreamiest DIY body scrub

Let yourself indulge. You deserve it.

Pamplemousse massage + skin check

When you step out of the shower, don’t towel off completely. While your skin is still dewy, massage in Pamplemousse Body Oil. It smells like tropical sunshine, and it melts right into the skin. Take your time here. Inch by inch, feel your body. Tune in. As you massage, start checking your skin. Notice your freckles, moles, and any new or changing spots. This isn’t about picking yourself apart—it’s about honoring the skin you live in and looking out for your future self.

The ABCDEs of skin awareness

Here’s an easy guide I use when I’m checking my skin:

  • Asymmetry – Does one side of the mole look different than the other?
  • Border – Are the edges irregular or blurred?
  • Color – Is there more than one shade (brown, black, red, etc.)?
  • Diameter – Is it larger than a pencil eraser (about 6mm)?
  • Evolving – Has it changed over time in shape, size, or color?

If you notice anything that makes you pause—take a photo. I created a dedicated folder in my phone just for mole tracking so I can compare over time and share with my dermatologist if I need to. It’s quick, easy, and gives me peace of mind.

Make it a ritual

I put it on my calendar once a month—nothing fancy or overwhelming. Just a moment to slow down, check in, and love on my skin. And please—don’t skip your annual skin check with your derm, especially if you have a family history.

Oh, and always, always wear your SPF.

Your skin does so much for you. This is one tiny way to say thank you.
