In-flight Skincare Rituals

Posted on

After our recent trip to LA, we were inspired to share our favorite skincare travel tips with you. The recycled air on the plane combined with the added stress of traveling can definitely take a toll on your skin. Here's what we do to help ensure that we always arrive fresh-faced at our destination.

PRE-FLIGHT: Before boarding your flight, wash and exfoliate your skin well. Use the  Honey Love to gently massage the skin, her microdermabrasion crystals will gently smooth and exfoliate the complexion- allowing for optimal absorption of your serums and elixirs (make sure to focus on areas of congestion like the t-zone, and don't forget to gives your lips a little exfoliation!). Let the Honey Love sit pretty on the skin for 5 minutes before rinsing, this will allow the the raw Hawaiian honey to deeply moisturize and soothe the skin. Rinse clean with warm water and follow with your favorite Leahlani toning mist (We recommend the Bohemian Ruby for extra hydration) Serum, and Elixir. Allow two minutes to pass before applying another round of toning mist and then gently pat Bless Beauty Balm into your sweet skin. Bless will help to lock in moisture from your serums and elixirs and protect your skin from external pollutants and dry air in flight. We suggest flying makeup-free if possible, this will allow for you to use more products during your flight.

- Leahlani Toning Mist
- Serums/Elixirs
- Bless Beauty Balm

DURING FLIGHT: Once you're up in the air and settled into your flight, go to the restroom to splash a little water on your face (remove any makeup). This will also give you a chance to stretch your legs and get some fresh blood flow! When you're back in your seat, grab your carry-on bag and get your products ready. Generously apply your toning mist and then follow by slowly massaging your facial serum/elixir into your skin. Champagne Serum is a beautiful facial massage oil to bring on flight- she will help to moisturize, soothe balance the skin. Spend 5-10 minutes massaging her into your sweet skin, this will really help to reduce puffiness and tired 'travel skin' that often happens after a long flight. Massaging the face also helps with lymph drainage, oxygenation, and hydration. Apply a few more pumps of toning mist and then follow with our deeply nourishing Bless Beauty Balm. Gently pat her into the skin to lock in all that gorgeous moisture and nourishment from your facial oils. Bless will hug the skin and provide comfort during your dry flight, she also works magic at moisturizing your hands and cuticles. For great facial massage techniques, check out this post.

Depending how long your flight is, you might want to repeat this step one more time. Rinsing, toning, massaging, and moisturizing. Keep your toning mist close by and freshen up every hour.

AFTER FLIGHT: You've made it this far, don't miss out on the last step, which is just as important! Once you've arrived at your destination, cleanse your skin with our Kalima Cleansing Powder. Activate her with water (or your toning mist) and apply her evenly to the skin. Sit pretty until she has fully dried, this will allow the clays and water-activated vitamin C work their magic while the softening clays help to pull oils and impurities from deep within the pores. She will also help to brighten and soften the skin to perfection. Rinse clean and follow with our  Meli Glow Illuminating Nectar Mask. If this mask wasn't made of raw Hawaiian honey, we would recommend using it during the flight, but you might disturb your neighbor a little too much with all the rinsing required. Meli Glow will help to hydrate, moisturize and plump the skin cells, leaving your complexion bright and dewy. Alllow Meli to sit pretty for 15 minutes, and then follow with your toning mists and serums/elixir combo (siren + aloha is amazing). If your skin is extra dry, we recommend using Meli Glow every morning for a few days after you land to keep that soft and supple aloha-glow going.

Aloha to safe travels and glowing skin!

I love these products and your travel suggestions however I have been reluctant to travel with these products because they are all packed in glass. Do you have a travel kit or do you have suggestions as to how to safely carry these products while traveling? Thank you!
