Leahlani Elixirs & Serums

So what exactly are Leahlani Elixirs?

An elixir is defined as such:

1. a magical or medicinal potion.

2. a preparation supposedly able to prolong life indefinitely.

Sounds dreamy right? While they may not prolong your life, they truly are magical skin-loving potions. Our elixirs were formulated to take the place of our day and night creams. For those who are skeptical of using an oil based elixir in place of a traditional cream, I feel you, I was too. That is why it took me so long to perfect their formulation.  I discovered is that our elixirs resonated better with just about every single skin type, this is because they are free of emulsifiers, waxes and fillers and are full to the brim with nutrient dense, organic botanicals specifically designed to provide results and nourishment to the skin. They are efficacious and overflowing with some of the most beautiful ingredients I have ever worked with. Better yet? The results are equally as beautiful.  I promise that both you and your skin you will look forward to their application each morning and evening.

Our skin has different needs throughout the day. If you start your day with a balanced, healthy and wholesome breakfast, you just feel better! The same analogy goes for our skin. Starting the day out 'feeding' your skin a nutritious, superfood and superfruit elixir that is bursting with antioxidants, nutrients, vitamins and collagen boosting ingredients will help to promote a vibrant and radiant complexion throughout the day. This is where Aloha Ambrosia comes in.

Aloha Ambrosia Morning Moisture Elixir was formulated with these exact factors in mind. An exotic, superfood feast for your skin. This light-weight morning elixir is carefully formulated to hydrate and nourish your skin, providing each cell with the essential nutrients it needs throughout the day to leave your skin well fed, perfectly moisturized and wholly nourished. The effortless and quick absorbing nature of Aloha Ambrosia makes it perfectly suited for morning | daytime use. If you wear makeup, you will love Aloha Ambrosia as a moisturizing 'primer'. Simply allow a few minutes after application before applying your makeup. She is suited for all skin types, but is especially beneficial for oily | combination skin. If your skin tends to be on the drier side, you may want to layer a small amount of Bless Beauty Balm on top for additional moisture.

At night, our skin cells are working hard to repair the damage from the days pollutants and to balance moisture that we loose while we sleep. Nighttime is the perfect time to use richer and heavier products that will feed your skin cells the nutrients they need to help optimize healing and repairing. This is exactly what Mahina Elixir was formulated to do.

Mahina Evening Replenishing Elixir is my moonlight magic, her ingredient is list is stellar. Mahina contains some of the most powerful youth enhancing, cold pressed beauty oils such as moringa, marula, prickly pear, chia, carrot seed, passionflower and meadowfoam seed oil that work in harmony to help repair cellular damage and encourage cellular renewal while providing abundant moisture and hydration to the skin. Massage one pump into your skin and instantly become transported to aromatic heaven, surrounded by sweet citrus and soft vanilla. Mahina will work hard as you sleep, ensuring that you wake up to soft, supple and replenished skin. I spend a few minutes massaging Mahina into my face, neck and decollate area before falling asleep.  Should you feel the need for an additional boost of moisture, apply a small amount of Bless Beauty Balm on top of your Mahina Elixir.

Because neither Aloha Ambrosia or Mahina have any water in their formulation, I strongly recommend applying them to a moist face. Why do this? I like to use the wet sponge/dry sponge analogy. A dry sponge is not able to absorb as much moisture as a damp sponge can- the same metaphor applies to the skin. Your skin will absorb your Elixirs and Serums faster and more effectively when applied to a damp or moist face. There are a few ways you can go about doing this, you may mist your face with either our Citrus & Citrine or Bohemian Ruby toner first, and then apply one pump of Elixir to your skin or you can simply splash your face with warm water and 'pat' dry, and then apply your Elixir. This is also why I always apply my Coco Infusions to my skin right out of the shower, while the pores are open and the skin is warm.

So, what about serums?

I think of our serums as light-weight super 'skin boosters'. Both the Champagne and Siren Serum have a very small molecular structure, which can penetrate and absorb more easily into the deeper layers of the skin, helping to repair and strengthen the cells.  Due to their concentrated nature, you may find that you only need 1/2 pump of Serum to deliver results. Leahlani Skincare currently has two serums that are very different from each other. Each Serum was formulated to address specific skin needs. Lets break them down:

Our Champagne Serum is our harmonizer. She is calming and soothing, and will help restore balance to your skin. This serum is great for redness, scarring, dry patches, irritation, acne breakouts and even sun burns, and is gentle enough to use around the eye area. Our organic 'cocktail' of green tea, white tea and rooibos tea will help reduce inflammation and strengthen elasticity while the soothing blend of lavender, chamomile and rose geranium will assist in balancing the skin to bring it back to its ‘happy place’. I reach for the Champagne Serum when my skin is in need of soothing, and she always delivers.

The Siren Serum is our radiant bottle of sunshine, bursting at the seams with Vitamin C and A, tonifying algae and a brightening infusion of over 15 regenerating and invigorating essential oils that will help promote an even skin tone and help fade acne scarring and hyper pigmentation. Think 'glow'. The addition of micro algae helps to improve vitality by boosting cellular energy and promoting new cell growth, leaving the skin feeling fresh and toned. Her color is bright and vibrant, as is her scent. She is uplifting and active, and will leave your skin radiant and glowing.

One of my favorite ways to use the Serums is compounding them to my face masks. Adding a pump of Siren Serum to your Mermaid Mask is heavenly and adds an additional amount of vitamin C and cellular regenerating properties. Adding a pump of the Champagne Serum to the Honey Love 3-in-1 helps boost moisture and anti-inflammatory properties, leaving your skin soft and supple. You may also layer your Serums under you Elixirs. To do so, first determine which Serum best addresses your skincare needs. Start with a moist face (as mentioned earlier) and start by applying 1/4-1/2 pump of Serum to your skin. Allow the Serum to absorb (1-3 minutes) before layering with with your Elixir (Aloha Ambrosia in the AM and Mahina Elixir in the PM). Follow by applying a small amount of Bless Balm to the areas around you eyes and lips for added softness.

I hope you are enjoying Leahlani Elixirs and Serums! From my loving hands to yours ❤︎

Hi! I have a quick question! Any suggestions on what I can use on my eyebrows, they get very dry and sometime flaky with dandruff. My forehead is sometimes very dry after I shower, but then throughout the day it gets very oily. Any suggestions would be appreciated! I want to try something natural:)

    Hi Leah,

I am new to your products but after reading all of the reviews I would love to start using them! However, I have no idea where to begin. I am originally from Hawaii so I have olive skin. I navigated to your site in hopes that your products would help the Island skin tones. I am thinking I would begin with a cleanser (not sure which one) and then use maybe the Elixers and/or Serum followed by the Beauty Balm. But I really have no idea! Help a newbie??

Hello guys. I’m Andina and I’m new to Leahlani. If you have to choose not more than 3 holy grail products for a person with combination – acne prone (from cystic to those small bumps before period) and dehydrated (not dry, only a bit dehydrated), what would you suggest? Because I’d like to build up my Leahlani’s rituals bit by bit and wondering where should I get started? Thanks in advance though :)

hi Leah, is it ok if i use mermaid mask 3x a week? thanks^^.

  • Rachel: March 16, 2016

I loved learning how and why to use each lovely product. Now I need them all!

  • Leah: February 26, 2016

Aloha! I love that idea!! I will work on figuring out how to implement that, thanks for the tip! Until then, please feel free to connect with me if you have any questions Leah@leahlaniskincare.com

It would be awesome if you had little skin “quizzes” to help customers figure out which products would be best for them. And, maybe even which COMBO of mask, serum, elixir, cleanser, & toner would be best. Then, we could purchase a custom collection box or something. Just an idea.

Aloha lovely! So glad that this was helpful for you :)
I know exactly what you are talking about, I am very familiar with painful cysts that have heartbeats.

First and foremost, I strongly recommend trying the Honey Love 3-in-1 for use as an exfoliator and mask 3x a week. This is my holy grail for keeping my skin clear. The Mermaid Mask 1x a week also helps to give your skin a superfood and nutritional boost, and can calm and tame redness beautifully.

If your skin is very dry, I would lean more towards the Champagne Serum. If your skin is on the more oily side, I would say go for the Siren Serum. Truly, both are beneficial in their own way. Champagne serum helps calm inflammation an redness, especially when it is active. The Siren is more beneficial to help facilitate an even skin tone from post-inflammatory acne- brightening the complexion with its super boost of Vitamin C and A.

    I hope this helps!

  • Leah: February 25, 2016

I am so glad you are enjoying them both! Yay!! Thank you for sharing your experience lovely!

  • Leah: February 25, 2016

You are most welcome, thank you for reading and sharing! I see no problem at all mixing the formulas!
Another solution that I would recommend is to first apply the Siren Serum- is is more light-weight in texture so it does absorb quicker then the Champagne Serum. Wait about a minute and then apply the Champagne Serum on top :) I have done this, and loved it. Let me know how it goes!

  • Bianca: February 25, 2016

    Dear Leah,
Thanks for putting this detailed article together, it all makes so much more sense now. As you know I am a loyal Champagne Serum user and my skin shows clear signs of withdraws when I run out of it for a few days. As Siren is Vit C powerhouse helping fading hyperpigmentation (in my case left behind from cysts) I wonder if I can mix half a pump of each and create a even more powerful dose of actives for my face in the morning. Are there any problems with mixing the two formulas? Such as reducing efficacy of the ingrdients?
    Have a lovely day!

  • Makenna: February 24, 2016

Ordered both elixirs and haven’t touched my regular moisturizer from Pai since! And I have dry skin :) they’re amazing! The champagne serum is great too!

  • Susannah: February 24, 2016

Love this post, it really helped explain them and the difference from your serum and elixir so thank you! I suffer from pretty bad hormonal cystic acne (oddly on one side of my face ). My skin is super sensitive (allergic to Shea , chia , benzoyl ) but it gets so inflamed when the cysts come. I used to go get cortisone injections but am trying to wean myself from them as I “green” up my routine. Some of them have “heartbeats” it feels like so I still have to go for those bad boys. So I was thinking champagne however my skin is also VERY fair and scars from all the acne and I have the dreaded marks that last FOREVER after I break out no matter what I do so that definitely makes me think siren. Any help in that direction?

Also I really liked the idea I use as a booster in a mask! Never thought of that , genius !

Last question (sorry) -are they both safe for pregnant women? (Not currently pregnant just wondering) thanks so much! Hoping to place an order this weekend
